Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has sparked a controversy after he was welcomed by ‘Flying Hanuman’ at an event in Ujjain on Friday. The Hanuman mascot hung from a crane, welcoming the Chief Minister with a garland.
This incident took place just days after Yadav was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in the recently concluded assembly elections.
Video footage from the Ujjain event, which has gone viral, captured the scene of a Hanuman mascot suspended from a crane, simulating flight to welcome the Chief Minister with a garland. The display has faced criticism from the Opposition.
"Doesn't the act of hanging Bajrang Bali (lord Hanuman) on a crane to welcome the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh raise eyebrows among the hypocrites?" questioned Congress's Supriya Shrinate.
Yadav was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday (December 13) in an event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, among others.
Two Deputy Chief Ministers, Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla, also took the oath along with Mohan Yadav.
Yadav is a three-time MLA from Ujjain South and served as Higher Education Minister under former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
