New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs has raised fees for passport services, the revised charges coming into effect today for applications filed in India and at Indian missions abroad.
The fee for a standard 36-page adult passport (fresh or renewal) is now Rs 2,500, up from Rs 1,500, while the 60-page adult passport has been increased to Rs 3,500 from Rs 2,000. Tatkaal fees for adults have also been raised: Rs 5,000 for a 36-page passport (previously Rs 3,500) and Rs 6,000 for a 60-page passport (previously Rs 4,000). Replacement passports for loss or damage now cost Rs 5,000 for a 36-page and Rs 6,000 for a 60-page (earlier Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,500 respectively); the Tatkaal replacement fee for a 60-page passport has been hiked to Rs 8,500 from Rs 5,500.
Passport services for minors have been repriced: a normal 36-page fresh or reissue passport for those below 18 is now Rs 1,750 (up from Rs 1,000) and Tatkaal is Rs 4,250 (up from Rs 3,000). Replacement fees for minors are Rs 4,250 (normal) and Rs 6,750 (Tatkaal). Miscellaneous services, including Police Clearance Certificates and other passport-related certificates, have been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 750.
Indian citizens applying from abroad will follow a separate fee schedule at missions and consulates; for example, a fresh 36-page passport (normal) overseas is fixed at $125 and Tatkaal at $250. A 10% discount on fresh passport applications continues for children below eight years and senior citizens above 60, but the concession does not apply to reissues.
Applicants are advised to consult the MEA or Passport Seva website for the full fee schedule and payment procedures.
