MBBS student in Assam seeks mother’s forgiveness before ‘suicide’

Guwahati: A 24-year-old medical student was found dead in his home in Assam's Silchar on Tuesday night, which a police official termed ‘prima facie’ a ‘death by suicide’, NDTV reported.

The final year MBBS student of Silchar Medical College and Hospital was found hanging from the ceiling.

The student killed himself at his residence in Tarapur around 10 pm, leaving behind notes, according to the report citing the police.

Two notes, recovered from his room, seeking his mother’s forgiveness said he was depressed.

The student in the first note to his mother said he was unable to handle the depression and complained of pain near his chest, and said that ‘ I am leaving you today’.

In the second note he owned the responsibility for his death saying ‘I am willingly committing suicide’.

Police reportedly said that his family members confirmed the handwriting and however they will have it verified by experts.

Students at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital said the 24-year-old was academically brilliant but largely kept to himself.
