Man in Tamil Nadu kills wife for her habit of social media reel making

Tiruppur: A man in Tamil Nadu's Dindugal of Thirupur district killed his wife on Sunday night quarreling over her too much social media activity.

The 38-year-old Amirthalingam who worked in the Thennam Palayam vegetable market resented his wife Chithra's habit of posting videos on Instagram, according to India Today.

Chithra, who was working in a garment factory, got some 33.3K followers on social media when she decided to pursue a career in acting.

She had left for Chennai two months ago and afterwards came back to attend her daughter's wedding.

When she was preparing to go to Chennai again, Amirthalingam threw a spanner asking her not to go.

On Sunday night an argument broke out between the couple after Chithra stuck to her decision to be active on social media and try acting.

In a fit of rage, Amirthalingam choked Chithra using her shawl and when she fainted, a panicked Amirthalingam left the house alerting his daughter that he hit his wife.

When their daughter tuned up to check on Chithra she was found dead.

Police arrested Amirthalingam in Perumanallur and further probe in underway.
