Bhopal: In a serious incident of caste discrimination that implies Brahmin superiority, a youth of OBC status from Madhya Pradesh was forced to wash the feet of a person of Brahmin status and drink the water as a punishment for alleged insult of the latter. A video of the incident, which happened in the Damoh district, is viral on social media, sparking severe outrage.
According to NDTV, police have registered a case regarding this under multiple sections, including one relating to an act that prejudices harmony between different communities. The case was registered based on a complaint registered by a member of the community to which the victim of the incident belongs.
The victim is identified as Parshottam of the Kushawaha community, and the Brahmin person is identified as Annu Pandey. Parshottam was forced to wash Annu’s feet and drink the water in front of the villagers.
Parshottam was “punished” for an alleged insult to the Brahmin community after he posted an AI-generated picture of Annu on social media. He was fined Rs 5,100 and was made to apologise to the Brahmin community, it is learned.
According to NDTV, the issue started with the village where Parshottam and Annu live, which issued a ban on liquor, and Annu continued selling it. Annu was punished by the villagers for this, and Parashattom uploaded the AI picture of Annu wearing a garland of shoes. This was what infuriated the Brahmin community, and they decided to punish Annu, despite his removing the AI picture immediately after posting and apologising.
The Brahmin community demanded that Parshottam “atone” for apparently demeaning the community.
