Kolkata: Mahua Moitra on Monday appeared to take a swipe at fellow Yusuf Pathan amid reports that around 20 rebel TMC MPs had extended support to the NDA.
In a post on X, Moitra alleged that Pathan was heading to Delhi after being called by Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah.
She suggested that the former cricketer-turned-politician should show courage and stand by the mandate given to him by voters in his constituency, Free Press Journal reported.
"And @iamyusufpathan you are rushing to Delhi because @AmitShah has called you? Have some courage. You played for India. Our district voted you in with a huge margin. Have some shame & some spine," she wrote.
Her remarks came against the backdrop of reports claiming that at least 20 TMC MPs had written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing support for the NDA. The reports also suggested that a group of rebel MPs had met in Delhi, fuelling speculation about internal differences within the All India Trinamool Congress.
Moitra’s comments triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some users supporting her stance and praising her for speaking out, while others questioned the allegations and sought evidence to back her claims. Several users also weighed in on the reported political developments within the TMC.
