Guwahati: The rebel MLAs, along with Eknath Shinde, paid Rs 68-70 lakh for their stay in a luxury hotel here during the rebellion, PTI reported citing sources.
However, the news agency reports that the hotel staff of the upscale Radisson Blu hotel were not ready to reveal the exact bill of the stay after the group checked out on Wednesday, clearing all bills during the eight-day stay.
The group had booked 70 rooms on various floors for them and their associates, while the hotel closed its restaurants, banquets and other facilities for their non-resident guests from June 22 to 29.
"The Maharashtra legislators stayed in the hotel as normal guests. They cleared the bills before leaving. There is no money pending," a senior official of the hotel told PTI on condition of anonymity. Though he refused to divulge the exact bill paid, he said that the MLAs stayed in superior and deluxe category rooms.
PTI reports, citing Radisson Blu's website, that tariffs of different categories of rooms in their Guwahati hotel change almost every day. The usual rent of superior rooms is around Rs 7,500, and deluxe ones are Rs 8,500. This reaches the estimated total of Rs 68 lakh after adding discounts and taxes.
With the GST, the amount payable for the two types of rooms is around ₹ 7,280 and ₹ 8,400 per person for a night. There are a few superior rooms and approximately 55 deluxe rooms in the hotel. Further, the total bill for food is estimated at around Rs 22 lakh, and the source said that the MLAs used no extra services but the complimentary ones included in the room rent. ". No other chargeable utility like the spa was availed by them," the source added,
In an attempt to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, some 39 MLAs, along with Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde camped in the hotel. Their attempt turned successful in the end, crippling the MVA and CM Uddhav Thackeray
resigned.
