Rameshwar Sudhakar Sabbanwad, a shopkeeper's son from Handarguli village in Maharashtra, secured 202nd rank in the UPSC exam 2021. It was his second attempt.
He did his schooling at the Jawahar Navoday Vidyalay in Latur and did his graduation in engineering from Pune.
According to the UPSC, a total of 685 candidates - 508 men and 177 women - have qualified this year. They have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various central services.
All three top ranks were secured by women this year, and it is a first. Shruti Sharma, a graduate from St. Stephens College of Delhi University, ranked first and is followed by Ankita Agarwal, an economics graduate from the University of Delhi. The third rank is secured by Gamini Singla a graduate of BTech in Computer Science.
The Commission said 244 are from the general category, 73 from Economically Weaker Sections, 203 of Other Backward Classes, 105 Scheduled Castes, and 60 from Scheduled Tribes.
The result was announced yesterday, and marks will be available on the website in two weeks.
