As per official data released on Thursday, Maharashtra currently has around 82,098 COVID-19 patients, about 12.5% of the active cases in the state, in serious conditions and under treatment in various hospitals across the state.
25,265 patients are in intensive care units, including 17,077 on oxygen and 8,288 on ventilators. 56,733 COVID patients are on oxygen though outside of ICUs. 35.02% active cases or 230,955 patients are in hospitals.
Currently, the state has a case doubling rate of 54.22 days and a fatality rate of 1.49 per cent, while the recovery rate is at 85.32 per cent. 48,80,542 cases have been recorded so far, and a death toll of 72,662.
Five districts in the state, including Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Nashik and Thane, account for fifty per cent of the total active cases as per the data compiled until May 3.
