Lashkar's most-wanted terrorist behind continuing attack in J&K: sources

New Delhi: The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-based operative of Lashkar-e-Toiba, is reported to be behind the spike in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, according to NDTV.

Saifullah Sajid Jatt, a "hardcore terrorist" from Shangamanga village in Kasur district of Pakistan's Punjab, is operating from a base camp in Pakistan capital Islamabad, the report said citing the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Sajid Jatt, the security agencies suspect, is behind several terror strikes in the Valley over the past few years.

It is reported that Sajid Jatt , who previously worked in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir , is currently handling Lashkar's recruitment and helping terrorists cross over into India.

Sajid Jatt, whose wife is an Indian origin and staying with him, carries a bounty of ₹ 10 lakh on his head.

Considered to be an operational commander of Lashkar, Sajid Jatt who is on the most wanted list of NIA manages terror funding.

Meanwhile, searches are on for a person named Qasim who is suspected to be Sajid Jatt’s contact person in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Union Territory reported several terror attacks over the past couple of months, with terrorists last month opening fire at a bus ferrying pilgrims.

Following which the bus fell into a gorge in Reasi district and nine people were killed.

Days after this incident in Reasi, resident s of village informed authorities about two armed terrorists opening fire and security forces rushed in.

In the following gunfight, a CRPF personnel was killed and the terrorists were shot dead.

In the past two days, security forces killed five terrorists in separate encounters in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, and the encounters also left two soldiers dead.
