Kochi: Lakshadweep administration builds first oxygen plant in the archipelago at Minicoy, still keeping their lies and claims veiled.
In May, Collector Askar Ali had claimed at a press conference that the administration had already set up three oxygen plants in the islands. But the claim turned out to be a lie when tenders were called for laying of medical oxygen pipeline in Kavaratti and Agatti islands. According to reports, the equipment for the construction reached only on 20th of June. Also, Minicoy Island village vice-chairman Dr Muneer Manikfan told Madhyamam that it's only been days since the building of the plant has started.
The collector's claims turned out to be hollow and had the only objective to whitewash Praful Patel, the administrator of the islands after protests against the latter's draconian reforms intensified. The government wasn't ready to comment, even though the islands' representatives testified that the claim was untrue. They say that even the decision to build the plant was to counter the protests going on among the islands.
In the meantime, Dr Mubarak, medical officer at Minicoy Government Hospital, informed that the oxygen plant's construction there is at the final phase and would be done in three days. He added that the plant has a capacity of 28 connections.
