Bengaluru: Karnataka Police have arrested a man for abusing a muslim woman for travelling on a bike with her friend belonging to another faith, said officials on Monday.
The incident took place on Saturday at a public road and the video of the same was taken by local people.
The accused, identified as Jakir Ahmad, a resident of Bangarapet in Kolar district, had waylaid the bike and created a ruckus in the public place. He objected and questioned the woman for travelling with the non-muslim youth and asked her to remove her burqa.
The victims were heading back home after attending an interview.
East Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station registered the case against the accused and he has been sent to judicial custody, said officials.
The investigations revealed that the biker and woman were known to each other.
The Congress government had warned of strict action against any moral policing cases in the state.
