In a touching incident from Malappuram, Kerala, a man named Shajir saved a myna by performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), with the heartwarming video quickly going viral.
The video, reported by Tamil news outlet Thanthi TV, shows the unconscious bird being revived through Shajir's timely and compassionate actions.
The footage captures Shajir pressing his thumbs on the myna's body to regulate its breathing and heart function. After several attempts, the bird begins to flutter its wings and eventually regains consciousness, flying away once fully recovered.
Initially, Shajir is seen performing CPR on the bird. Once it starts showing signs of life, he carries it to a water-filled bucket, possibly to offer it water and cool its body. Remarkably, as soon as he places the myna on the ground and releases it, the bird takes flight, marking a successful rescue.
This event comes amidst reports of bird flu in certain areas of Kerala, affecting crows, cranes, and migratory birds.
In response to the outbreak, the state government has issued a ban on poultry farming. Kerala's animal husbandry minister, J Chinchurani, expressed concern over the spread of the virus and emphasized the need for preventive measures, including a year-long ban on poultry farming.
