Kerala High Court dismissed the appeal filed by businessman Mohammed Nisham. He was challenging a trial court order sentencing him to life for murdering a security guard.
Seven years ago, Nisham rammed his luxury vehicle into the victim in a fit of rage. Nisham was in an inebriated state and assaulted the 51-year-old Chandrabose. He was angry over the delay in opening the main gate of the residential complex in Shobha city.
In 2016, the trial court in Thrissur sentenced Nisham to 24 years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 80.30 lakh. He is currently serving his jail term.
A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justices K Vinod Chandran and C Jayachandran upheld the trial court order. They also dismissed a government plea seeking the maximum penalty of the death sentence. The court also refused to release the vehicle involved in the incident.
