Karnataka Police officer demands or sexual favor to file a complaint

Bengaluru : An inspector with the city's police department has been accused of sexual harassment by a 39-year-old woman.

Police on Thursday said that the woman lodged a complaint with Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant claiming that the accused allegedly tried to lure her into bribing him or gratifying him physically.

On January 13, the complainant went to the police station in Hennur to lodge a complaint against a tenant. Owing to her alleged situation, the inspector, attached to Hennur police station, took advantage of her, according to the complaint.

"Inspector Vasanth Kumar told me either to pay him Rs 5 lakh or oblige to his sexual advances whenever he wants," she told the police. "If she submitted to his demands, he would assist her," she added.

Upon refusing to comply with his demands, the victim said that the Inspector verbally abused her. She claimed that the Inspector threatened to make at least 10 complaints against her and also filed an FIR against her. There was a great deal of difficulty in obtaining bail in that case, according to her.

During this period, the accused inspector summoned me to the police station and forced my acceptance of his offer. He used to hold my hand and drag me, saying that he wanted me no matter what. I suffered the torture for a long time.
