Actor turned politician and the founder of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Kamal Haasan launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging the people to deny them another chance at ruling the nation.
Speaking fervently in support of Thol Thirumavalavan, the VCK president and INDIA bloc's candidate for the Chidambaram Parliamentary seat, Haasan criticized the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for its alleged disregard for social justice and democratic values.
Haasan asserted that the BJP's tenure has posed a grave threat to democracy in the country. He emphasized the need for unity among secular and like-minded forces to safeguard democratic principles from what he deemed as the BJP's detrimental policies.
Thirumavalavan, a seasoned politician with a 25-year-long commitment to public service, echoed Haasan's sentiments, emphasizing his staunch stance against casteism both in politics and in his personal life.
The MNM leader accused the central government of failing to deliver on its promises, particularly in addressing the concerns of farmers and the unemployed youth. He criticized the use of water cannons on protesting farmers and the alleged failure to generate the promised two crore jobs annually.
Highlighting the plight of Tamil fishermen, Haasan accused the government of neglecting their security concerns and failing to protect minority communities, leaving them vulnerable and living in fear.
In his rallying cry, Haasan urged the electorate to rally behind Thirumavalavan and ensure his resounding victory in the upcoming general elections. The appeal underscores MNM's commitment to challenging the BJP's dominance and promoting a vision of inclusive governance that prioritizes the interests of all citizens.
