Indian companies' hiring process witnessed a 30 per cent decrease in the second quarter of 2020-21. The reason said to be the rise in contractual jobs, a report by SCIKEY Talents and HR Solutions says.
The quantity of workforce increased in this year amid the Pandemic. Work from home jobs increased compared to last year. "We are working from home and it feels like more flexible and the company is making a huge profit out of it. In the middle of Pandemic, companies are trying to ensure that productivity. In the hiring process, they prefer freshers and experienced. But the difference is in the way of market strategy implementation. Work from Home jobs seems to be very bulk" an IT professional told Madhyamam.
However, there is an increase of 11 per cent of the demand for the contract workforce in Q2 as compared to last year's performance. According to data from SCIKEY, the demand for full-time employees decreased by 13.8 per cent. In June, the IT service sector service showed a recovery. The reports made it confirmed that the Pandemic situation has given rise to a huge number of contract workers for a plug and plays model allowing companies to reduce their hiring costs. IT sector, e-commerce and telecom industry are said to be looking for management profiles, tester, engineer, developer, analyst senior and consultants.
An early study by the company found that there was an uptick in hiring senior executives in India compared to freshers and mid-level executives in the pandemic period which is from April to June, as the enterprises looked to invest in talent at the very top levels. Indian companies are said to be hired 72 per cent of top executives when compared to 28 per cent of freshers and mid-level executives in the already reported period.
