In the aftermath of a deadly encounter in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, where four army personnel, including an officer, were killed, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a significant crackdown on the terror network in the region.
Several overground workers and supporters of terrorists have been arrested, and operations have been intensified.
The crackdown follows a major counter-terror operation in the Desa area of Doda, where extensive search operations and area domination efforts are being conducted by a large contingent of army and paramilitary forces.
The initial gunfire was reported in Kalaan Bhata last night, with further reports of firing near Panchan Bhata at 2 am during the ongoing anti-terror operation in the Desa forest area. The encounter resulted in the deaths of Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay, who all laid down their lives in the line of duty.
This incident marks the second significant encounter in the Jammu region following an attack in Kathua last week, where five soldiers were killed. The coordinated strike targeted two trucks carrying at least 12 troops, using grenades, armor-piercing bullets, and an M4 assault rifle.
The recent surge in terrorist attacks, which began in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, has now spread across Jammu—a region that was previously free from terrorism until a few years ago. Over the past 32 months, 48 soldiers have been killed in action in the Jammu region, highlighting the escalating threat and the urgent need for intensified counter-terror measures.
