It is the minister of Pakistan who will tell you… practise terrorism: Jaishankar to Pakistan journalist

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is known for his hard-hitting arguments on international issues, Thursday gave a befitting repartee to Pakistan journalist on terrorism.

When asked how long South Asia will see terrorism from New Delhi, Kabul, Pakistan, Jaishankar wittily said the journalist was asking wrong minister, as per a report in India Today.

"It is the minister of Pakistan who will tell you how long Pakistan intends to practise terrorism" he reportedly said.

In what is seen as a veiled attack on Pakistan, the External Affairs Minister was in effect accusing the neighbour of harbouring terrorists and providing safe havens to terrorist groups like al-Qaida, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Taliban.

Jaishankar further said that the world is not stupid and forgetful which increasingly calls out countries and organisations that indulge in terrorism.

Jaishankar by way of advising the journalist gave a message to the neigbouring country to 'clean up' its act, while trying to be a good neigbhour, contributing to the world like the rest of the world is doing.

Talking about the threat of terrorism in his address to UN Security Council, Jaishankar said that there has been expansion of Da'esh, Boko Haram and Al Shabab and their affiliates.

Highlighting further on terrorism he said the "contemporary epicenter of terrorism' is still active as are the "old habits and established networks".
