India’s IT sector showed clear signs of recovery in 2025, with total job demand reaching 1.8 million roles — up 16% from the previous year — signalling renewed momentum across the industry, according to the IT Workforce Trends in India 2025 report by Quess Corp.
A key driver of this growth was Global Capability Centres (GCCs), which increased their share of IT hiring to about 27% in 2025, up sharply from nearly 15% in 2024. Product and SaaS companies also expanded hiring selectively, while IT services and consulting firms recorded modest growth.
In contrast, startup hiring slowed to low single-digit growth amid tighter funding conditions.
The report noted a strong preference for productivity-ready talent. Mid-career professionals with 4–10 years of experience accounted for 65% of total hiring in 2025, compared to 50% a year earlier. Entry-level roles made up around 15% of overall demand.
Contract hiring also edged up, accounting for roughly 10–11% of IT jobs in 2025, compared with about 8% in 2024, indicating a gradual rise in flexible workforce models.
Skills demand was particularly strong in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, reflecting the growing complexity and value of roles being built in India. Quess Corp said these points reflect a technology hiring market moving steadily up the value curve.
Looking ahead, the report expects hiring momentum to continue into 2026, driven by specialised digital roles, expansion beyond tier-II cities, and sustained demand from sectors such as BFSI, SaaS, telecom, and manufacturing. Overall, growth is likely to remain capability-led rather than volume-driven.
