Iqra Hasan's electoral victory marks a shift away from divisive politics

Iqra Hasan, who won the election as a Member of Parliament from Kairana on the Samajwadi Party ticket, expressed her hope of the SP coming to power in Uttar Pradesh in the 2027 Assembly election.

Iqra, who took oath holding a copy of the Constitution, narrated her vision for the constituency as well as her commitment to communal harmony, vowing to work towards inclusive governance and uphold constitutional principles.

She also signalled her dedication to upholding the rights guaranteed to minorities, Dalits, SCs, STs, and other marginalized communities.

Iqra’s victory in Kairana, attributed to a localized and issues-driven campaign, marks a significant shift away from divisive politics. Criticizing the BJP for its polarization strategies, Iqra emphasized that local concerns took precedence over national narratives in this election cycle. Her pledge to fulfil campaign promises reflects a mandate against hate agendas, fostering unity and rejecting division.

The success of the Samajwadi Party, under the strategic leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, has positioned it as a formidable political force. The party's performance, bolstered by the PDA alliance and effective ticket distribution, now places it as the third-largest in parliamentary seats.

Looking ahead, Iqra’s agenda prioritizes developmental initiatives in Kairana, including infrastructure enhancements, improved education and healthcare facilities, and better local amenities.

She has also pledged to advocate for farmers' rights, ensuring fair prices and timely payments, alongside promoting higher education opportunities for women.

With a more balanced 18th Lok Sabha, Iqra anticipates constructive parliamentary discourse and a robust opposition challenging the BJP's agenda. She aims to address critical issues such as youth unemployment, controversies surrounding NEET, and agricultural grievances, fostering inclusive policies for societal progress.
