New Delhi: In yet another twist to the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, accused Indrani Mukerjea has told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that her daughter is alive and asked the agency to look for her in Kashmir.
As per reports, Indrani Mukherjea wrote a direct letter to the agency claiming that she met a woman prisoner who told her she had met Sheena Bora in Kashmir.
"She wrote to the CBI, we have no details of what she wrote," said her lawyer Sana Khan.
Indrani Mukerjea has been lodged in Byculla jail in Mumbai since her arrest in 2015 in the Sheena Bora murder case. Her bail application was rejected by the Bombay High Court last month and she is likely to approach the Supreme Court through her lawyer Sana Khan soon.
Three months after her arrest, her husband Peter Mukerjea was also arrested on charges of helping Indrani.
Bora was allegedly abducted and strangled in April 2012. The alleged crime came to light after the arrest of Indrani's driver, identified as Shyamvar Rai, in another case in August 2015. The driver, during the investigation, confessed that he had killed Bora in April that year and disposed of her body in Maharashtra' Raigad district. He even informed the Mumbai Police that Bora's mother, Indrani Mukerjea, and Sanjeev Khanna were also involved in the crime.
According to investigators, Sheena was killed due to the financial dispute between her and Indrani.
Indrani was also enraged with Sheena over her relationship with Rahul Mukerjea - Peter Mukerjea's son from an earlier marriage -
After the murder, Indrani told friends that Sheena - she had claimed to the world that she was her sister - had moved to the US.
While still in jail, Indrani and Peter Mukherjea ended their 17-year relationship and were granted a divorce in 2019. Peter Mukherjea was released on bail in 2020.
