IndiGo flight suffers damage after tailstrike at Delhi airport, probe underway

New Delhi: An IndiGo aircraft hit the runway while taking off from Delhi airport, damaging its tail section, NDTV reported.

The tail section of the IndiGo flight No. 6E 6054 had several dents on its blue paint from the impact of the hit. It is reported that no one was injured.

The aircraft was scheduled to fly to Bengaluru when the accident took place on September 9.

Tailstrike occurs when the tail section of an aircraft touches the runway at the time of takeoff or landing, which can cause structural damage to the rear pressure bulkhead.

The pilot alerted the air traffic controller (ATC) about the accident and ATC gave the aircraft clearance to land and the aircraft safely landed, according the report.

It is reported citing sources that the regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Delhi airport authorities are probing the incident.

The DGCA has derostered the crew and the passengers were deboarded and arrangements were made for them, according to the report.
