Indian national stabbed to death in Canada; suspect gets detained

Ottawa: The Indian Embassy in Canada informed that an Indian national was stabbed to death in Canada’s Rockland area near Ottawa on Saturday morning. The embassy also added that a suspect has been taken into custody, NDTV reported.

When more details of the incident and the victim were yet to arrive, the embassy promised to provide all possible assistance to the victim’s family.

Indian Embassy in Canada wrote on X, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police have stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin.”

NDTV further reports that local media have reported about a person being killed in Clarence-Rockland and a person getting arrested. However, it is not clear if both incidents are the same.

CBC reported that Ontario Provincial Police cautioned Rockland residents of an increased police presence in the area.
