India urges citizens to leave Iran immediately in fresh advisory

India has issued a fresh advisory urging its citizens to avoid travelling to Iran and asking those already in the country to leave at the earliest, as security concerns in the region continue to grow.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran reiterated its earlier warning following recent military developments and advised Indian nationals to prioritise their safety.

“In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran. Indian Nationals presently in Iran are also advised to exit the country by available means of transport,” the embassy said in a statement.

The advisory applies to all Indian citizens in Iran, including students, businesspersons, pilgrims, and tourists. It is the eighth advisory issued by India since the start of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel.

Earlier, following a ceasefire announcement in April, the embassy had advised Indian nationals to leave Iran expeditiously and had launched a helpline to assist citizens seeking to return home.

According to official estimates, around 7,500 Indian nationals remain in Iran. The Indian Embassy has previously facilitated the evacuation of thousands of citizens through land routes via Armenia and Azerbaijan.
