The Indian Embassy in Tehran has advised Indian nationals in Iran to remain indoors and avoid movement for the next 48 hours as tensions in the region continue to rise.
In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the embassy said Indians in Iran "must stay where they are for the next 48 hours". It asked them to avoid all electric and military installations and to stay away from the upper floors of multi-storey buildings.
The embassy also urged citizens to remain indoors and coordinate any essential travel, particularly on highways, with the mission.
Those staying in embassy-arranged accommodation have been told not to leave and to stay in regular contact with embassy teams. The mission asked all Indian nationals to follow official updates and instructions issued through verified channels.
Emergency helpline numbers and an official email remain operational.
The advisory follows earlier warnings from the embassy asking Indian nationals to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement. In previous notices, the mission had also warned Indians not to try to leave Iran through land borders without prior coordination because of possible logistical and immigration problems.
The latest warning comes as the security situation in Iran worsens.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday again urged Iran to reach a deal, warning of severe consequences if an agreement was not reached.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will."
