India's COVID scenario witnesses an erratic trend as the country registered 41,806 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, and 7% higher than Wednesday as per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry.
On Wednesday, India had recorded 38,792 new COVID-19 cases.
The death toll due to Covid-19 in the country reached 4,11,989 as 581 patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 15,637 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 8,602 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 2,591 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,458 cases and Odisha with 2,074 cases.
Meanwhile, the AY.1 and AY.2 sub-lineages of the highly contagious Delta variant of the novel coronavirus are unlikely to be more transmissible than Delta itself, said the consortium of government panels involved in genome sequencing of coronavirus.
In a recent bulletin, the Indian Sars-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) said that the cases of Delta sub-lineages AY.1 and AY.2 are declining globally, with near-zero cases in the last week of June in the UK and the US where they were most frequently detected.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 43,80,11,958 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to July 14, of which 19,43,488 samples were tested yesterday.
The Union Health Ministry further informed that till date, 39,13,40,491 vaccine doses have been administered so far including 34,97,058 in the last 24 hours, under the nationwide vaccination drive.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh-mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
