India records 25,404 new Covid-19 cases, dip in active cases

India logged 25,404 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is 6.7 per cent lower than yesterday's cases (27,254). The country also reported 339 deaths, which is a marked increase from yesterday's 219 deaths.

This is the third day in a row when the daily count of cases has remained below the 30,000-mark.

At 15,058, Kerala leads the states with most number of daily cases but for the first time in many days, daily cases are below the 20,000-mark. The state today reported 99 deaths, which is an increase over yesterday's 67 deaths.

Kerala is followed by Maharashtra with 2,740 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,580 cases, Mizoram with 1,502 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 864 cases.

Around 85.59 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 59.27 per cent of the new cases.

Maximum casualties were reported in Haryana with 121 fatalities, followed by Kerala with 99 daily deaths.

India's recovery rate now stands at 97.58 per cent.

A total of 37,127 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,24,84,159 across the country.

India's active caseload stands at 3,62,207. In the last 24 hours, active cases decline by 12,062.

India has administered a total of 78,66,950 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 75,22,38,324.

A total of 14,30,891 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

India has exceeded the landmark of administering 75 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday.

According to the provisional data available on the Co-WIN portal, more than 71 lakh doses were administered on Monday till 7 pm. The daily vaccination count is expected to rise after final reports for the day are compiled by late night, the ministry said.
