India reported 11,903 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which was 14% higher than yesterday, the union health ministry updated on Wednesday.
As many as 311 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total death count to 4,59,191.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 6,444 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,078 cases, Tamil Nadu with 973 cases, West Bengal with 862 cases and Mizoram with 638 cases.
As many as 83.97 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 54.14 per cent of the new cases.
Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (187), followed by Maharashtra with 48 daily deaths.
A total of 14,159 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,36,97,740 across the country.
India has administered a total of 41,16,230 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,07,29,66,315.
More than 114 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories so far, out of which, more than 14.68 crore balance and unutilised doses are still available with them to be administered, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.
As per a press release issued by the ministry, 1,14,44,05,215 vaccine doses have been provided to the states/UTs so far through the Central government (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category.
A total of 10,68,514 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 26 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 129 consecutive days now.
Daily positivity rate of 1.11 per cent is less than 2 per cent for the last 30 days.
