India reported 7,554 new coronavirus cases, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,38,599, while the active cases dipped to 85,680, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases was at 6,915 new, the lowest in the last two months.
The death toll climbed to 5,14,246 with 223 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The daily COVID-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 24 consecutive days.
The active cases comprise 0.20 per cent of the total infections, the ministry said.
Indians being evacuated from Ukraine have been exempted from pre-boarding RT-PCR test, providing Covid vaccination certificates and uploading those on the Air Suvidha portal, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
It said the International Travel Guidelines have been revised and some exemptions allowed on humanitarian grounds for those arriving from Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours, 8,55,862 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered in the country. In all, 1,77,79,92,977 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country since the start of the inoculation drive on January 16, 2021.
Out of the vaccines administered on Tuesday, 2,01,38,994 were precaution doses administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and senior citizens.
The nationwide recovery rate has improved to 98.60 per cent, the ministry also stated. While the daily positivity rate is at 0.96 per cent. The weekly positivity rate is at 1.06 per cent, the ministry also said in the health bulletin.
As many as 14,123 people recuperated in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number to 4,23,38,673.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23. It surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crores on May 4 and three crores on June 23.
