India is US' strong partner, Looking forward to supporting G20 Presidency: Joe Biden

Washington: US President Joe Biden said India is a strong partner of his country and he is looking forward to supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during India's G20 Presidency.

India assumed the G20 Presidency on Thursday. In an article published on his website, PM Modi said: "India's G20 priorities will be shaped in consultation with not just our G20 partners, but also our fellow-travellers in the global South, whose voice often goes unheard."

Biden tweeted: "Together we will advance sustainable and inclusive growth while tackling shared challenges like the climate, energy, and food crises." After assuming the Presidency, Modi tweeted: "Today, as India begins its G-20 Presidency, penned a few thoughts on how we want to work in the coming year based on an inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented, and decisive agenda to further global good."

Modi said India will be working to promote oneness, inspired by the theme of "One Earth, One Family, One Future". He also listed terror, climate change, and the pandemic are greatest challenges that are best fought together.

The next G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of Heads of State/Government is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 in New Delhi. The intergovernmental forum comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the European Union (EU).
