New Delhi: The demand for Indian goods is rising in the world, said PM Modi during his Mann ki Baat address Sunday morning.
In his first speech to the nation since winning four states in polls Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indians for achieving the export target of $400 billion last week.
Converting $400 billion to Rs 30 lakh crore, he added that the achievement showed the capability and potential of India.
India was taking great steps towards economic progress he said, adding that it wouldn't take long before Indians getting ' vocal for local' to become global, according to India Today.
India's exports reportedly rose from USD229 billion in 2020-21 to USD 400 billion first ever in a fiscal.
Lauding eMarketPlace as a transparent system developed via technology he added that small entrepreneurs were playing important role in government procurement through it.
Showing the spirit of a new India, eMarketPlace changed the belief that only big people could sell products to the government, he said.
PM Modi took time off to dwell on the benefits of Yoga. He asked listeners if they had seen 126-year old Baba Sivananda at the Padma awards recently. Everybody was surprised by his strength and fitness he said adding that he had passion for yoga.
Stressing the importance of water conservation, PM Modi called for both individual and collective efforts for it. He cited the examples of individuals doing it: Chandrakishore in Nashik discourages littering around the Godavari river. Rahul Maharana in Puri cleans plastic waste around religious places.
Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to BR Ambedkar and Jyotirao Phule on the occasion of their birth anniversaries falling in April.
He urged people to visit to the Panch Teerth associated with Dr Ambedkar where he visited, and remembering Phule he called up on everybody to further girl child education and strengthen women empowerment.
