How a 6-year-old made her mother, hit by job loss, happy

New Delhi: A mother of a 6 year-old said she found a new meaning in life after being laid off by Meta.

Shelly Kalish was among the 11,000 employees whose lives were built around their corporate jobs.

Losing job out of blue hit hard most of the employees but Shelly Kalish found a way to console herself.

Her daughter's happiness in the possibility of spending more time with mother suddenly lifted Kalish's mood

As per Business Insider, Kalish woke up at 6:30 am to check whether she has received the termination mail or not, according to Business Insider.

Kalish, according to the report, knew about the layoff only in a recent morning when she woke up at 6:30 am.

The mail she received was rather long and she didn't get past the first few sentences after knowing she was part of the layoffs.

"I checked my phone really quickly. It was a long email, but to be honest, I didn't get past the first few sentences, because that's where it had stated that I was part of the layoffs," Kalish reportedly said.

She turned off her phone and turned to her husband who consoled her with a hug but her daughter looked happy, and reportedly said, "Now you can spend more time with me".

Her reaction made Kalish to look at job loss from a more insightful perspective, particularly when the daughter said, "I'm sorry you lost your job. You're still the best mom", according to the report.

Mark Zuckerberg reportedly informed employees at Meta of the layoffs and apologized those impacted by downsizing.

Offering severance pay he said in the mail that the company "will pay 16 weeks of base pay plus two additional weeks for every year of service, with no cap, according to the report.

The company will cover the healthcare for employees and their families for six months.
