Hit by a BMW, falling WagonR kills two kids sleeping on footpath in Delhi

New Delhi: A young business man who was giving a tryout to his new BMW car ended up killing two children and injured eight others.

The 27-year-old Sahil Narang was testing the speed of his uncle's new BMW last week. When it reached the Lodhi Road flyover in South Delhi, the car hit a WagnoR flipping it.

The WagnoR fell over the people sleeping beneath a flyover, killing two children Roshni (6) and her brother Amir (10), according to the Indian Express.

The accused, who had fled the scene, was arrested days after the incident of rash-driving on June 10.

Those travelling in the WagnoR were also injured in the impact of the fall.

DCP Esha Pandey reportedly said police were alerted at 4.30am about the incident. They learnt that black BMW had hit a WagnoR causing it to fall over people rough-sleeping beneath a flyover.

The injured were rushed to AIIMs Trauma Centre where the children were declared death and other were also severely injured, according to the report.

The WagonR driver, Yatin Sharma (18) told police that he was travelling with three others when at 4.30 am a black car hit their car on the right side, as they were crossing the flyover.

Sharma , a student working as a PR promoter, said his car got dragged and fell over the people on the footpath.

Police said there were no eyewitnesses and the CCTV camera for the area was not working either.

However, police identified the BMW driver from other CCTC cameras in the area, tracing the car's owner.

The man whose name is not known said that his nephew was giving a tryout to the new BMW.

Sahil was arrested from his residence in Nirman Vihar and the car was also seized, police said.

Sahil, who has recently graduated and is running a garment business, was booked under sections of rash driving and causing death by negligence.
