Hindu Mahasabha event at Gwalior hails Mahatma Gandhi's assassins

Gwalior: In an event organized by the local unit of the Hindu Mahasabha at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on Mahatma Gandhi's 152nd birth anniversary, photographs of Mahatma Gandhi's assassins Nathuram Godse and Narayan Rao Apte were garlanded, reports PTI.

The event was organised as a seminar titled "Gandhi, and Hutatma (martyrs) Godse and Apte" which was held at the Mahasabha's office in Daulatganj area. on Saturday.

During the event, some workers also hailed "Pandit Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte Amar Rahe' which means Long live Pandit Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte, a PTI report added.

According to a Free Press Journal report, the organisation also claimed that Godse and  Apte had rehearsed Mahatma Gandhi's assassination with Scindia estate's pistol for three days in Gwalior.

Speaking to reporters after the event Hindu Mahasabha national vice president Jaiveer Bharadwaj said that both Godse and Apte took oath in a meeting held in Pune.

"Later, both came to Gwalior and did a rehearsal with a pistol of Scindia Rajvansh for three days in Gwalior. They were to kill both Jinnah and Gandhi, but they got arrested after killing Gandhi," Singh claimed while talking to journalists.

He further claimed over 10 lakh Hindus were killed during the partition. "We will ensure that the temple of Hutatma Nathuram Godse will be built across the country," he said, adding that India should be declared as Hindu Rashtra soon.

"We have nothing to do with Gandhi, but Gandhi and Mohammad Ali Jinnah were responsible for the partition of the country, Bharadwaj further claimed. .

"Partition led to the biggest genocide and more than 10 lakh Hindus were killed and another 50 lakh displaced. That is why Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte had resolved to kill Gandhi and Jinnah," he added.

In January this year, the Mahasabha had opened a study centre on Godse at its office here but closed it two days later following intervention by the district administration.

In 2017, the Mahasabha had installed Godse's bust at the office which was seized by the district administration.
