Himachal Pradesh is grappling with severe disruptions as continuous rainfall over the past four days has led to the closure of over 190 roads across the state.
The local weather office has issued a 'yellow' alert, warning of heavy rains until August 7.
According to data from the state emergency operation centre, 191 roads are currently closed to vehicular traffic. The breakdown is as follows: 79 roads in Mandi, 38 in Kullu, 35 in Chamba, 30 in Shimla, five in Kangra, and two each in Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts.
The heavy rains have also disrupted 294 transformers and 120 water supply schemes throughout the state. The Himachal Roads Transport Corporation (HRTC) has suspended bus services on 82 of its 3,612 routes, according to Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur.
Since Friday evening, moderate to heavy showers have continued to hit various parts of the state. Jogindernagar recorded the highest rainfall at 85 mm, followed by Gohar with 80 mm, Shilaroo with 76.4 mm, Poanta Sahib with 67.2 mm, Palampur with 57.2 mm, Dharamshala with 55.6 mm, and Chopal with 52 mm.
Rain-related incidents have resulted in 77 fatalities since the monsoon began on June 27. The state has also incurred losses amounting to Rs 655 crore, officials reported.
