Hema Malini claims opposition MPs 'ask too many questions'

New Delhi: Hema Malini, a BJP MP, responded to the suspension of more than a hundred opposition MPs on Tuesday with a direct response: "They ask a lot of questions and behave strangely."

Hema Malini, Lok Sabha MP from Mathura, is an actor turned politician. She claimed that the opposition's sole objective is to dismantle the Modi government and cause disruptions in parliament.

According to the two-time MP, the suspension indicates that they have done something wrong, justifying why the Opposition's roughly two-thirds of its members were removed from the parliament, NDTV reported.

"If they have been suspended, it means they have done something wrong. Work should be done in accordance with Parliament rules. They don't do it and they have been suspended. There is nothing wrong in it, this is correct," she said.

She also mentioned yesterday's INDIA alliance meeting, which is the primary opposition front consisting of the Congress and leading regional parties.

"That is their goal, somehow don't let the Parliament function and uproot the Modi government. They are working so hard for it, but they won't be successful," she said.

Her remarks followed the suspension of 141 MPs for the duration of the Winter Session, including those from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which has been widely criticised across the country.

Following a ruckus in parliament on the recent breach that resulted in a smoke scare in the Lower House last week, and their demand for a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah, the MPs were put under suspension.

The opposition INDIA alliance has decided to hold countrywide protests against the suspension of the 141 MPs this Friday.
