An incident of apparent Muslim hate being nurtured, among other places, in schools has once again brought to attention yet another case of insulting students from a minority community solely on the basis of religion.
In the viral video shared by fact-checker Mohammed Zubair on platform X, a principal named Avnish Sharma at a school in UP’s Amroha can be heard telling a 7-year-old student’s mother, during an argument over bringing non-veg food to the school, while the boy stands near her, that he does not want to teach a boy who will grow to demolish a Hindu temple.
In the video, the tone and intent of the principal clearly indicate that he is more concerned about the religion of the student than the student bringing non-veg to the school, and his allegation was that the 7-year-old would convert Hindu students by bringing non-veg to the school, the student is trying to convert Hindu students.
The video captures the principal asserting that the school would not continue to educate the child, suggesting that the child might grow up to damage Hindu temples.
The child's mother, visibly upset by these statements, refutes the accusations and asserts that her primary concern is her child’s education. She argues that her family does not support religious discrimination and lives in a diverse community with individuals from various backgrounds.
The confrontation escalates as the principal threatens to call the police if the mother and another woman do not leave the premises.
Despite the intimidation, the mother remains firm, asserting her child's innocence and denying any of the wrongdoing attributed to him. The 7-year-old, present during the altercation, remains largely inaudible.
The video's release on X prompted a response from the Amroha Police who have since formed a three-member team to investigate the allegations presented in the video. They also reassured that the law and order situation in the area remains stable.
As at the time of writing this time, it remains unverified whether the child was expelled from the school, as claimed by some reports.
The principal’s remarks and the unfolding events have led to heightened scrutiny and public concern about potential religious discrimination in educational institutions.
