Lucknow: In the sexual harassment case charged against him by the protesting wrestlers, he has full faith in the judiciary, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh told ANI.
On Friday, the Delhi Police told the Supreme Court that it has agreed to register an FIR against the BJP MP Brij Bhushan on the basis of allegations levelled by the wrestlers.
Accused Singh said that he was not running anywhere and would remain in his house. He will cooperate with Delhi Police over the case filed against him, and whatever will be decided by the Supreme Court, he will follow it.
Appearing for the Delhi Police, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta apprised the top court that Delhi Police would file the FIR.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Kapil Sibal who appeared for the wrestlers told the court to issue directions for the protection of the protesting wrestlers, who include a minor girl. He said that there were threats against the minor, and he is concerned.
But Tushar Mehta responded that all these concerns would be addressed by the police.
After the Delhi Police agreed to initiate FIR against the WFI chief cum BJP MP, Brij Bhusan Sharan Singh, the wrestlers talked at a press meet on Friday. Grappler Bajrang Punia thanked all who came together in support of them, including Olympic gold medallists Abhinav Bindra and Neeraj Chopra.
He continued that the WFI chief must be imprisoned soon since he continue misusing his position. The wrestlers will continue their protest till Brij Bhushan goes to jail. They added that they want to see the sections Delhi Police added against the accused BJP MP.
