New Delhi: Amidst the rising protests and call for a boycott of French products by Arab countries against the French president Emmanuel Macron's comments over Islam, hashtags supporting the actions of the president was trending in Twitter in India for the past two days.
Thousands tweeted to support France and praised Macron's actions against "radical Islam". Hashtags such as #istandwithfrance and #westandwithfrance were the most trending on Twitter. Some even called for a boycott of products from the Islamic countries.
Macron's Anti-separatism bill had attracted widespread protest from different parts of the world. Many say the actions of the president is stigmatizing a religion and the people following it. Several Islamic countries including Turkey, Pakistan and Bangladesh have called for a boycott of French products as a resistance against the issue.
It all started after a teacher accused of blasphemy of Prophet Muhammed was killed in France.
