Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's close associate was shot dead in Sadar Bazaar area in Gurugram on Thursday.
Sukhbir Khatana, former vice president of BJP's Sohna market committee, was attacked around 3.20pm outside the Raymond showroom by five unidentified persons.
CCTV footage from the shop reportedly showed Khatana and his friend Rajender entering the showroom parking their car outside when armed assailants fired at him.
Five assailants, two of them wearing black t-shirts, one white check shirt, another cap, and one red shirt, left the showroom after allegedly gunning down Khatana, India Today reported.
A critically injured Khatana was declared " brought dead" by doctors at the nearby Aarvi hospital.
He was to contest the Zila Parishad election from Sohna.
DCP (West) Deepak Saharan examined the spot with the help of the Forensic Science Lab and a crime scene team.

Khatana's son Anurag in his complaint alleged that Khatana's brother-in-law and his associates shot him dead, police said.
Chaman and others were booked under various sections including 302 for murder.
