Chandigarh: A government hospital in Jind, Haryana, was reportedly robbed of more than 1700 covid vaccine doses on Wednesday night. Rajender Singh, the SHO of Civil Lines police station, said that the stolen batch comprises 1,270 doses of Covishield and 440 of Covaxin. "The accused did not touch any other vaccine, medicine, cash, etc., lying in the store," he added.
A sanitation worker found the locks of the store and deep freezer broken on Thursday morning, and thus the incident came to the authority's notice.
However, a health department official in Jind ensured that enough doses of the vaccine are still available. He added that 1000 additional doses each would be available by this evening, and 6000 more doses of Covishield will be delivered by that time.
SHO said that a case is registered, and an investigation has been initiated over the incident.
