Bemetara: A goods vehicle, which was carrying people, hit a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, killing eight people and injuring 23. Those dead were five women and three children, PTI reported.
Police said that the accident happened late on Sunday near the Kathia village, and the victims were returning from a family function in Tiraiyya village.
The goods vehicle, which carried the victims, who are natives of Patharra village, collided with a mini truck that was parked by the roadside.
Police informed that those killed were identified as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6) and Twinkle Nishad (6).
The injured were rushed to two hospitals, and four critically injured persons were transferred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur, police informed.
