New Delhi: Sharing a video of him taking martial arts sessions, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said it was from his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra earlier this year.
Taking to X he wrote that during Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra the members of the march had a daily routine of practising jiu-jitsu every evening at the campsite, which he said began as a way to stay fit.
The martial arts practice quickly turned into ‘a community activity, bringing together fellow yatris and young martial arts students from the towns where we stayed,’ he wrote.
While mentioning this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on X a "Bharat Dojo Yatra" was coming soon, as Dojo also refers to a training hall or school for martial arts.
A year after his noted Bharat Jodo Yatra between September 2022 and January 2023, Rahul Gandhi led two-month-long Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur to Mumbai.
In the video shared online, he is seen teaching children various techniques alongside telling them he is a black belt in Aikido and a blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
He reportedly said the aim was to introduce young minds to the 'Gentle Art' that blends ‘meditation, jiu-jitsu, Aikido, and non-violent conflict resolution techniques’.
It was to instill in them ‘the value of transforming violence into gentleness’.
‘On this National Sports Day, I want to share our experience with all of you, hoping to inspire some of you to take up the practice of the 'Gentle Art',’ Gandhi was quoted as saying.
