Gangster Deepak, accused in MooseWala murder, escapes from police custody

Mansa: The accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala reportedly escaped from police custody on Saturday.

Deepak alias Tinu flew the coop while a staff of the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) was taking him to an unknown location at 11 pm, according to India Today. 

Deepak, who is known to be a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi (reportedly the mastermind behind the Punjabi singer's murder), was on the charge sheet alongside15 others allegedly for their roles as shooters and masterminds in the murder.

A day after AAP government removed security cover to him, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29.

The singer and politician was travelling in a jeep with his cousin and a friend, who were also injured, when he was attacked.
