Former Delhi University professor G.N. Saibaba passed away on Saturday at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Hyderabad. At 7:30 p.m., he went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.
Saibaba, 57, was brought to NIMS ten days ago because of health issues. He suffered from an infection after he had his gallbladder removed via surgery.
In March of this year, the Bombay High Court cleared Saibaba in a case involving suspected Maoist connections. Later, on March 7, he was freed from Nagpur prison, the New Indian Express reported.
In 2014, he was suspended from his position as an English professor at Delhi University's Ram Lal Anand College after being taken into custody by the Maharashtra police on suspicion of having Maoist ties.
