Former minister, AIADMK leader accused in job racket; Madras HC denies anticipatory bail

With 23 people having come forth with complaints of cheating and more others joining in on these complaints, former minister and AIADMK leader Rajenthra Bhalaji is in a tight corner. 23 people have already come forward alleging that the former minister cheated them promising jobs in Public Sector Undertaking 'Aavin'. He allegedly took money from them but never got them promised jobs. According to sources in the state police, corruption in the job racket case will run into crores of rupees.

Furthermore, the Madras High Court on Friday refused to grant anticipatory bail to the former minister. Several job racket cases are coming up before the court and innocent and educated youth are getting lured into these rackets, said Justice Nirmal Kumar as he dismissed the anticipatory bail plea.

Rather than the money being usurped, the precious time of youth is being lost waiting for such jobs, the justice noted.

"The case is of job racket and this court will not show any leniency towards the accused," the justice said.
