New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is about to present an interim budget at 11 am on Thursday.
The Finance Minister is presenting her sixth budget in a row setting a record only to have been previously achieved by former PM Morarji Desai.
Nirmala Sitharaman is photographed holding a digital tablet as she headed to Parliament today.
She is also photographed outside the Ministry of Finance with her team.
Being an interim budget, major policy changes or announcements cannot be expected as the general elections are just weeks away.
However, hopes are still high with tax payers looking forward to have change in income tax slabs, according to NDTV.
A higher standard deduction limit and a raise in exemptions under Sections 80C and 80D are also hoped for.
Major policy changes can take place when the new government takes office after the polls with the budget likely to be presented in July.
It is reported that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are in the hope of the Modi administration easing regulatory procedures, reducing compliance burden alongside providing loans.
