Farm unions across 22 states to hold a nation-wide chakka jam (road blockade) on November 5 against the contentious farm bills 2020. This will be followed up by a Delhi Chalo (March to Delhi) from Nov 26-27. They decided the protests in a meeting held on Tuesday by the representatives of different farm unions under the All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

The all India road blockade which will last for four hours on November 5 is being held to step up and intensify the agitation against Modi government's controversial three farm bills and selective silence on the concerns of farmers across the nation.

A five-member committee was formed in the meeting to coordinate the multiple protests planned in the coming month. Around 500 farmers group will take part in the protests which have now been transformed into a people's movement.

Jagan Mohan Singh Patiala, the working committee member of AIKSCC said that the protests will not only be happening in Punjab and Haryana but in 22 states of India and since the protest that began Punjab has spread to other parts of the country, it is now time to hold nationwide protests. He also condemned the government's undemocratic act of ceasing the operation of the goods train to Punjab as an attempt to threaten the farmers.

Protests have been raging across Punjab and Haryana against the farm bills ever since it was approved by the President in September. Farmers had burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day ago on Dasara accusing his government's failure in yielding positive results for the concerns of farmers.
