Senior farmers protest against farm laws braving Delhi's harsh winter

Facebook blocked their page at govt's behest: farmers allege

New Delhi : Farmers protesting along the Delhi borders alleged Facebook had blocked their page Sunday.

The page, Kisan Ekta Morcha, was blocked at the behest of the Centre after they released a video countering its claims on farm laws, farmer unions said.

The Facebook page was later restored, reports said. Baljeet Singh, who called himself the head of IT wing of the agitation, said: "The government is afraid of the farmers."

In a jibe at Facebook, Twitter user Mandeep Muktsar wrote: "Breaking: #MarkZuckerberg to be nominated to Rajya Sabha. @Facebook."

The farmers, on Sunday, warned they would make all the toll plazas free in Haryana between December 25 and 27, alongside starting a relay hunger strike.

They also decided to boycott any NDA constituent that doesn't back the farmers' stir.

At a joint press conference at the Singhu Border, the farmers unions said: "On December 27, PM (Narendra) Modi will speak in 'Mann ki Baat' but we want to appeal to all of you to bang utensils till the time the PM is speaking."

Farmers protest, braving severe winter, entered the 25th day on Sunday.
